Cook Islands water activities are mostly limited to kayaking along the coastline within a shallow lagoon. The only place you'll find watersports is in the sandy bottom lagoon at Muri Beach, but even here they are limited to windsurfing, sailing and the occasional motorised jet ski. Scuba diving around Rarotonga and Aitutaki is rather limited and good for casual divers and beginners only. Similarly, surfing is limited with just a handful of unreliable reef breaks off Rarotonga. There are no sailing day cruises or charters and no overnight cruises. Snorkelling is good at Muri and along the south coast of Rarotonga, as well as in the inner lagoon of Aitutaki which abound in colourful reef fish.
